Banh Mi Xa Xiu sandwich from Vietnam consists of barbequed pork, carrot and daikon, cucumber, pickled jalapeno, greens, cilantro and their house mayo

To me, a bowl of soup and a sandwich is home-cooking and Burgoo knows how to please.  With several locations in the lower Mainland, it’s a great spot to bring friends and family to because the comfort food they offer, from all over the world, appeals to a wide variety of tastes.  I’ve been several times and each time have had incredible service, great food and cold drinks.  They offer daily drink specials, seasonal brews and seasonal dishes which I think is necessary because if you like a place enough you will visit often and variety is the spice of life.  Canadians might gravitate to the tomato soup and grilled cheese but experimentation here is a must.  Step out of your box and enjoy the foods that millions of people around the globe take comfort in.  Perhaps you are from one of these far-flung locals, be it Vietnam or Great Britain and you might recognize the meal your mom served on cold afternoons or after the bout of the flu.  Personally, I enjoy the interior just as much as the food and I am guessing this place is packed on cold, rainy days.  Their Main Street location boasts the largest outdoor seating area while the others offer smaller sections or windows that open to the action on the sidewalk.  Go relax and hit up Burgoo next time you’re not sure where to eat, you won’t be disappointed.

Their version of the grilled cheese aptly named the Gooey Cheese Grillers, represents Great Britain with four melted, gooey cheeses sandwiched then grilled between two pieces of filone accompanied here by an equally tasty salad

Four locations throughout Vancouver and the North Shore.  Open for brunch on the weekends and lunch and dinner through the week.  There’s more to this place than sandwiches and soup!
